L’Equip 306200 Food Dehydrator Review

I was a newbie at drying foods so I looked up many review sites before purchasing this L’Equip 306200 food dehydrator which by the way has a 10 year warranty instead of 12. I’ve read some lucky people who purchased it way back had a 12 year warranty from the same brand. For me it was a really good buy because I’ve been using it for 2 years now and I haven’t had a problem with it. It does a fantastic job every time.

The best place to get food dehydrators is from Amazon. They currently offer an amazing deal with the lowest price I could find anywhere. Also their customer service is top of the line and the shipping was super-fast. I received my L’Equip food dehydrator in 2.5 days after ordering. Very impressive! At first I was drying batches of the same fruits or vegetables at a time until I tried drying mixed batches. I don’t really mind how some of the aroma or flavor would somehow mix a little as the foods I dried were very ripe anyway. However, when I dry tomatoes or watermelons with other foods, they’re always below other foods in the stack so the liquids won’t drip on the drier stuff in the batch.

I bought four additional trays after a few months to make a stack of 10 and I never had to rotate the trays so as for L’Equip’s claim that rotating isn’t necessary for as many as 12 trays in the stack, I guess it holds pretty much true.

I love how my L’Equip dehydrator is rectangular so it maximizes my counter space. It used to be as big as a microwave and after the extra trays it’s just a tall one. Anyway, I haven’t noticed any dripping from the dehydrator spilling onto the counter even when I dried watermelons. I didn’t smell anything burnt or strange even if I used my dehydrator a lot. Also, I never had to replace any tray. I didn’t even notice any signs of warping even if I’ve been I think drying food aggressively!

I saved a lot of money from buying sun dried tomatoes. The dried bananas weren’t really crispy but then they’re dried and not fried so it’s still a healthy trade off. I did make some batches that did not last as long as I hoped they would because maybe, slicing food thicker than a quarter inch should be dried longer than 12 hours.  But I haven’t tried leaving the food dehydrator longer than that and run up my power bill.

The temperature control and timer features are nice. The knobs aren’t too sensitive and I haven’t noticed any change in performance with time. The L’Equip 306200 food dehydrator consistently delivers the temp I want and so I’ve never had any batches of dried food that were unevenly dried or still soft after 12 hours, except for the batch where I think the food was too chunky.

Overall, I’m very satisfied with my dehydrator. I like how it’s consistent and reliable. I never had any surprises as long as I prepared the food right.
